Forest Cleaning Drive at Gorumara National Park

๐Ÿ“ŒIn a significant step towards preserving nature and promoting environmental consciousness, AIM Foundation, in collaboration with the Forest Department of West Bengal, successfully organized a Forest Cleaning Drive at Gorumara National Park. The initiative, held amidst the lush greenery and rich biodiversity of the park, aimed to restore the natural habitat and spread awareness about sustainable forest tourism and conservation.
๐ŸŒฟ About Gorumara National Park

Located in the Dooars region of northern West Bengal, Gorumara National Park is renowned for its picturesque landscapes, diverse flora and fauna, and the majestic Indian rhinoceros. As one of the most ecologically sensitive zones, the park attracts thousands of visitors every year. However, increased footfall has also brought the challenge of pollution and littering—threatening the ecological balance.
๐Ÿค A Joint Initiative for a Greener Tomorrow

Recognizing the urgency to act, AIM Foundation joined hands with the Forest Department of West Bengal to conduct a forest cleaning campaign aimed at:

Removing plastic waste and non-biodegradable litter from the park

Educating visitors, locals, and volunteers about responsible tourism

Promoting the importance of maintaining cleanliness in natural habitats

Volunteers from AIM Foundation, local community members, forest guards, and eco-club members participated actively in the drive. Armed with gloves, biodegradable bags, and a spirit of service, the team covered key trails, tourist spots, and surrounding areas of the park.

๐ŸŒฑ Impact and Outreach

The forest cleaning drive not only resulted in visibly cleaner surroundings but also sparked meaningful conversations about ecological responsibility. The Forest Department provided vital support through logistics, guidance, and safety protocols, ensuring the initiative was conducted without disturbing wildlife.

Key outcomes of the drive included:

Collection of over 200 kilograms of waste

Segregation and safe disposal of plastics and other non-recyclables

Awareness sessions for school students and tourists

Strengthened community engagement in forest conservation

๐Ÿ“ข Voices from the Ground

"We are committed to making a difference—not just through one-time activities but through sustained awareness and action. Gorumara is a treasure we must protect," said a representative from AIM Foundation.

Officials from the Forest Department appreciated the collaborative spirit and emphasized the importance of public participation in conservation efforts.

๐ŸŒŽ A Call for Continued Action

The success of the Gorumara forest cleaning drive is a reminder that collective effort can lead to real change. AIM Foundation plans to continue such environmental initiatives across different regions, encouraging citizens to take ownership of their natural surroundings.
