๐ช️ Rising from the Storm: AIM Foundation’s Role in Amphan Relief
๐ดIn May 2020, Cyclone Amphan devastated parts of West Bengal and Odisha, leaving behind a trail of destruction—flattened homes, uprooted trees, broken livelihoods, and shattered communities. It was one of the worst cyclones the region had witnessed in decades.
At that moment of crisis, AIM Foundation stepped in—not just as a relief provider, but as a lifeline of hope, compassion, and resilience.
๐ The Impact of Cyclone Amphan
Over 10 million people were affected
Lakhs were rendered homeless and hungry
Many areas remained without electricity, water, and connectivity for days
Children, elderly, and women were the most vulnerable
The aftermath was not just about rebuilding homes—it was about rebuilding lives.
๐ช AIM Foundation’s Immediate Response
AIM Foundation acted swiftly, mobilizing volunteers, resources, and local networks to reach affected areas across Sundarbans, South 24 Parganas, and rural Kolkata outskirts.
๐ Emergency Relief Distribution
Cooked meals for over 10,000 people in the first week
Dry ration kits with rice, pulses, oil, salt, and essentials for over 5,000 families
Safe drinking water and ORS in flood-affected zones
๐ Essentials & Shelter
Tarpaulins, mosquito nets, and blankets to families who lost their homes
Sanitary pads and hygiene kits for women and girls
Clothing and footwear for children affected by the cyclone
๐ถ Child-Focused Support
Safe zones set up for children with storytelling, drawing, and trauma counseling
Distribution of school supplies, toys, and snacks to bring smiles back to young faces
๐ค Partnerships & Community Involvement
AIM Foundation partnered with local panchayats, grassroots organizations, and youth groups to ensure quick and fair distribution of relief. We ensured transparency, dignity, and community involvement in every step.
We also received generous support from donors, volunteers, and friends across India and abroad, who contributed funds, supplies, and moral strength.
๐ฑ Beyond Relief: Rebuilding Lives
Even after the immediate crisis passed, AIM Foundation continued to work in the region:
Repaired damaged schools and community centers
Started livelihood support programs for women and artisans
Conducted health camps and mental wellness sessions
We believe that true relief lies not just in aid, but in restoring dignity and self-reliance.
