Honoring Peace, Unity, and Courage – AIM Foundation Observes Anti-Terrorism Day

๐Ÿ“ŒEvery year, May 21 is observed as Anti-Terrorism Day across India to commemorate the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, who was assassinated by a terrorist organization in 1991. The day stands as a solemn reminder of the destructive impact of terrorism and the collective need to uphold peace, national unity, and human dignity.

๐Ÿ›‘At AIM Foundation, we believe that building a just and inclusive society is the strongest antidote to hatred and violence. On this significant day, we organized a series of awareness activities and community engagements aimed at educating youth and citizens about the importance of peace, empathy, and resilience in the face of extremist ideologies.
Pledge for Peace and Unity

The day began with a unified Anti-Terrorism Pledge, where staff members, volunteers, and students pledged to oppose terrorism and violence in all forms, and to promote harmony and understanding among people of all faiths and backgrounds. The pledge echoed the values of non-violence, tolerance, and democratic dialogue.

Interactive Awareness Session

An engaging awareness session was held at our Kolkata center, featuring talks by educators, social workers, and local police representatives. The session highlighted:

The roots and consequences of terrorism

The role of youth in promoting peace

Cyber-awareness in the age of digital radicalization

The importance of education in countering extremist narratives
Participants shared their thoughts and asked insightful questions, making it a truly interactive and thought-provoking experience.

Art and Expression for Peace

We encouraged students and young participants to express their ideas of peace and unity through art, poetry, and street plays. Vibrant posters, poignant poems, and powerful performances showcased the dreams of a world without violence—a world where love triumphs over hatred.

Our Commitment Going Forward

Anti-Terrorism Day is not just about remembrance—it's a call to action. At AIM Foundation, we reaffirm our commitment to:

Promoting inclusive education

Empowering the marginalized

Facilitating dialogue over division

Supporting mental well-being to prevent radicalization

By nurturing informed, empathetic, and responsible citizens, we believe we can build a safer, more compassionate future for all.

Let us unite against violence. Let us choose understanding over hatred.
Together, let’s make peace not just a word, but a way of life.
